Computing Curriculum Testimonials

We've had some great testimonials from schools using our Smithills Primary Computing Curriculum.

Here are a couple to whet your appetite!

Why choose our curriculum?

“The range of software suggested in the plans quickly enhanced our provision.
Planning provides staff who are not confident teaching computing with
sufficient guidance to jump straight into teaching complex objectives.”

Ian McDermott, Deputy Headteacher, Hindley Green Sacred Heart, Wigan

“Lesley’s scheme and support service has been invaluable.
It has given us a self contained new computing curriculum and ensured pupils are learning everything they need in a fun, engaging way.
The assessment grids are also very easy to use and informative.”

Nicola Browning, Computing Leader, Hindley All Saints Primary & All Stars Nursery

A big thank you to Standish St Wilfrid's CE Primary Academy for supporting us as a WiSCH partner school and working with us on computer game making, with Y3 pupils. The following photo was taken by one of the Y3 boys. Love our colour co-ordination!

Over the next few weeks we are looking forward to sharing some of the pupils' work and computer games. Watch this space!

We are excited!

We are really excited for just 7 reasons.

1. We already have 7 schools that have joined the Wigan Schools' Computing Hub, WiSCH!

2. We have ten schools trialling our primary computing scheme of work, with feedback already coming in really positively and have had 100 hits on this already since we launched the page earlier this week!

3. We have found a lovely training venue for our subject leader training and subject knowledge courses next year - details to be announced very soon with dates

4. Schools are booking us for September already and we have a school that has booked us for a week to support them with their whole school computing introduction. They have requested our Whole School Introduction to Computing Support Package and with that they get

  • A whole staff meeting to introduce teachers to the key concepts of the computing curriculum
  • A day with the computing subject leader to action plan
  • 3 whole staff INSET sessions to provide support or training in their specific key development areas
  • Half a day per year group to identify and plan for opportunities to teach computing across the curriculum

5. Our 2Code course is booking up nicely

6. Our ad and article in this month's QA Education Magazine looks fab! Thanks QA!

7. It's nearly weekend and with a bank holiday coming up we are looking forward to putting some more essential computing information ready to share with you! Someone recently asked if we ever rest! We promise you we do get some sleep and have time off, don't worry! Have a lovely bank holiday and let's hope the weather stays bright.
